
Kochi: Save A family Plan (SAFP), an International NGO that encourages those from developed countries to work for justice and social change by assisting poor families and communities in India conducted its Annual General Meeting-2012 at Don Bosco Image Kochi today. Dr. Toopran Sampath Kumar, Senior Advisor & Team Leader, Development Cooperation Section (CIDA) High commission of Canada inaugurated the event and enlightened the participants about the inability and competition that the country face in getting funding for NGOs due to the financial problems across the globe.
About 65 Directors of partnering NGos and members of SAFP participated in the event. Dr. M.J. Joseph spoke about the present Challenges of NGO sector and the relevance of new program implementation strategy ofSAFP. SAFP began its operations in India in 1964 by Monsignor Augustine John Kandathil a priest from the Archdiocese of Ernakulum. In 1965 it started its operations in Kerala by assisting five poor families in the southwestern part of the state.
